The Potter
Throwing pots on the wheel is something I have been doing for 30 years, but I started off creating sculptural pieces at Plymouth College of Art and Design. After college I wanted to learn how to throw and luckily got an apprenticeship in North Devon. It was this traditional skill of making functional pieces that laid down the foundation for everything I now produce. I made pots for Hartland Pottery for 10 years alongside my own range which I sold in various galleries around the South West.
In 2012 I set up my own pottery in the basement of my home, The No 39 Pottery. In December 2019 after 5 long years of building with my husband at weekends and evenings we completed our new home and the Calf Street Pottery.
Adhering to my traditional throwing of functional domestic ware I use slips and underglazes to create a range of contemporary ceramics. The design and inspiration of which often stem from the natural environment. Alongside my main body of work, I undertake commissions and also produce a selection of limited edition pieces.
